Its True! Exercise is NOT everything! It’s only a small part of the weight loss pie.
80% of your weight loss success will be PORTION CONTROL and DIET. If you are strict enough on your diet, then you don’t need to worry about exercise.
People have difficulty saying NO to food they love, if it’s still on their plate. I do! If my plate is full of the things I like then I’ll keep eating. I may also desire another helping. My stomach stretches out and it’s ready for another equally large portion at the next meal. My brain doesn’t register that I’m full until my stomach says “I’m Stuffed!” Teach yourself to only eat a minimal amount and your stomach will shrink!
Tip: Eat your target portion, then wait 20 mins even if you still feel hungry. The hunger will subside as your brain catches up to your body’s actual nutritional needs.
If you want to weigh 20 lbs less, then you need to eat like someone who weighs 20 lbs less.
When I learned about Portion Control, I understood that I needed to trick my brain to only need one small bowl of food for each meal. I started out with a large appetite, and one bowl was not enough for me. I was left feeling hungry, but I wanted to shrink my stomach to a smaller size. It took me a full week of feeling hungry after every meal and then my stomach did get small. 1 bowl was enough. Mild hunger feelings is only your body burning off the fat. Learn to tolerate it and appreciate it’s significance.
Once I adjusted, I could actually eat till I was satisfied. I liked that feeling! I ate all my meals in the bowl. It held one and 1/2 cups of food. I never filled it to the top, and I always made sure the carbs were less than the protein/veg.

With every meal I drank a tall glass of water. It helped alleviate the feeling of needing more food.
Tip: Coffee can also be an appetite suppressant.
If you aren’t losing at least 1 lb. a week, then you are doing something wrong. Personally, I lost 1 lb every other day. You can’t let up on your diet, no matter what!
Life gets busy. I know, I have 3 kids! There’s only so much time to devote to weight loss and fitness. If its important to you to be healthier, look great, be in shape, then your time and energy is better spent thinking about your food intake, planning healthy meals, and making sure you are sticking to your diet than hitting the gym 3-4 times a week.
No amount of exercise will help you if your diet isn’t right. If you do exercise, remember that it doesn’t give you an excuse to cheat on your diet. You can’t eat fat food all day and think your 40 mins of elliptical will erase it. Discipline yourself and you will succeed!
“I hated every minute of training, but I said, don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life a champion.” – Muhammad Ali
Portion Control combined with a healthy Diet is the key to shedding weight.
