Wedge Wear day AND night!

Sandals are the first choice in shoe fashion where I live in California. Wedges are EVERYWHERE!

I love mine and have several pairs to choose from. But… I always need more!

At a recent Wine and Chocolate Stroll in fashionable downtown Danville, women were out in their cute wedges for some guaranteed night fun.  I had on my preferred heels, but what I saw, I loved!

I normally choose my colorful wedges for day-wear, however I think I’ll pull out a pair the next time I’m out at night as well!

Here’s to finding the versatile wedge!

My Picks:

Chinese Laundry

Lucky Brand

Naughty Monkey at Zappos

Seychelles

and my absolute favorite

Cesare Paciotti

Of course I’d wear those Cesare Paciotti’s anywhere! But for the casual fun in my downtown, I’d have to choose Naughty Monkey for their flare.

Spring for Cool Feet this Summer

There are some nice selections out for spring and summer wear. Now that the West Coast heat wave is hitting early, I’m having fun sporting my sandals every day.

On a recent trip down the coast, I had the opportunity to view many who tread the path of cool California footwear.

The ones that got an immediate red flag… Crocs.

In very recent years, I have seen less and less of these brightly-colored clown shoes where I live. But they keep showing up!

Parents, C’mon! Have a little taste! Unlike the sizes suggest, in my opinion they are NOT for the entire family. At least not in public!

Save your dollars for a cooler pair of summer shoes.

I came across Amphibian shoes years ago and I still like them just the same! They are my first choice for beach, hiking, trips to Disneyland and the like.

Try this tasteful alternative that supports comfort, in any active setting.

My Picks:

Salomon Techamphibian 3

for him

The NorthFace Hedgefrog 2

for her

Accessorizing Your Style

Accessorizing is a great way to add style. Here, a straw Fedora is worn by this stylish mom.

Heels, scarf, jewelry, handbag, you can add color to any outfit and look  fabulous!

Hats are perfect for warmer weather looks and the Fedora is a sure classic!

Developing your own personal style is a fun learning process. Your choice of accessories is an extension of You.

I prefer to go light on my accessories. Keeping it simple adds to my look. Some personal favorites are a pair of gorgeous heels, chunky bangles, and a bright purse. I also like to mix it up with a hat, belt or scarf.

Tip:Choose 2 or 3 accessory pieces to show off your taste.  Too many can be overkill.

Remember to keep an open mind while shopping. You may discover how fabulous you look in a hat!

Love It Nude? I Do

With the new Spring Trends  stocking every closet and drawer across the fashion globe, the shoe that spans the spectrum is “Nudes”.

Dressed for work or play, nude shoes can be worn with everything!

These Beauties add length to legs and since they go with everything, why not make them a staple in your shoe collection?!

Tip: The key to buying “nudes” is to make sure they go with your skin tone.

My Picks:

INC International Concepts

Michael Kors

BCBGeneration

Ivanka Trump

Via Spiga

Boutique 9

Flip Your Flops

Love your toes?

She won’t!

Men have hotter views to show us, of the fairer sex, than their feet. To put it plainly, narly toes sporting flip-flops are NOT OK!

The large population of men who wear them, don them for the cooling effect rather than fashion.

So try this alternative that is catching on in hot waves… Espadrilles! They are the best of both worlds. We don’t see your toes and you keep cool while looking HOT at the same time!

Made to conform to your foot, the canvas and rope sole espadrille breathes and allows for comfort on hot days.

Tip: With these classics, sizing down is a good thing. The canvas will stretch and fit your shape perfectly.

My Picks:

Soludos

Tom’s

Drilleys

Save your flip-flops for the beach or pool and wear Espadrilles instead for bumming around.

Flat Fashion

Flats are our sole’s traveling relief, whether on our feet or in our bag.

I love mine, and I take them everywhere! When the weather is wet and a little chilly, I like to keep my toes enclosed.

This winter I chose a perfectly red flat to add some pop in my drab wardrobe. But now that Spring colors are blooming on the shelves, I’m out to look for a softer pair…

I came across some Crocs while shopping and…

though their styles are looking a little less harsh on the eyes, I would have to be PAID to wear a pair.

My Picks:

Sperry Top-Sider

Delman

Sam Edelman

Fashion in the Rain

Gone are the days when wellies were only for tromping thru the mud.

They have evolved in modern times to be the shopper’s fav wear-around boot.

Rain or shine, ladies don their wellies, bright pinks to leopard prints.

  My picks:

1. Kate Spade

2. Ralph Lauren

3.Hunter

What I wear? Kate Spade. I like the ladylike look with the bow and the animal print makes a splash with any ensemble.

Maxi, Frumpy or Fabulous?

This past fall and winter, I have noticed some frumpy looks while out and about.
Putting a little thought into choosing a style of maxi skirt will be to your advantage!
So here are my 2 cents:
If you are petite, it’s a little tricky; however you can beautifully pull off a maxi skirt.
Select a style that is well-cut and fits snugly to your figure. A lot of fabric can make you look shorter and frumpy, which you should avoid at all cost!

Choose patterns and colors that elongate, like vertical lines and dark colors. White will not do.
Heels and wedges add height. Stay away from flat sandals.
What you wear on top can add to your look. For example, a longer jacket will add height and also can hide.
If you are of average height or tall, you can’t go wrong with a maxi. You can wear flowing styles or snug.
Flat sandals, wedges, anything goes.

A rule of thumb when looking at design: Horizontal patterns add width. Vertical patterns add height. Angular patterns detract from width and can add height.

I really like the hi-lo style of maxi. It’s versatile. Tall and petite can wear this look! Pair it with some cute wedges and you’re set!

With the right style for your shape, you can look fabulous in a Maxi!
